The record / 1900s
On 1 September 1974, Maj. James Sullivan and Maj. Noel Widdifield flew an SR-71A Blackbird from New York to London in 1 hour, 54 minutes and 56.4 seconds, an average of about 1,807 miles per hour, a world speed record. The flight carried the airplane to the Farnborough Air Show, the first time the jet was shown publicly outside the United States. The chest is the time. The airplane in the art is an SR-71A of the 9th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing, airframe 61-7964, from an official Air Force photograph, printed as a two-ink halftone. It is a sister ship, not the record airplane, which was 61-7972.Heavyweight tee, from thirty-four dollars.Garment-dyed heavyweight 100% ring-spun cotton, relaxed unisex fit, made to order and shipped from the US.
