The Story & Historical Record

On 6 March 1944, the Eighth Air Force flew its first major daylight raid on Berlin. About 100 P-51 Mustangs from the 4th, 354th and 357th Fighter Groups were among more than 800 escort fighters that flew with the bombers.A small top-down silhouette of the P-51 Mustang sits at the chest, with one thin vertical line of type trailing behind it like a contrail: ESCORT TO BERLIN, 6 MAR 1944.Garment-dyed heavyweight 100% ring-spun cotton, relaxed unisex fit, made to order and shipped from the US. Printed in white on a black tee, small and quiet, so the story is the thing people ask about.Sources Imperial War Museums, American Air Museum, 8th Air Force Field Order 262, bomber escort National Museum of the US Air Force, North American P-51D Mustang National Museum of the US Air Force, Target Berlin P-51 silhouette traced from a NASA P-51D plan view (EG-0068-01, public domain).
